About IYRCU
INDIAN YOUTH RED CROSS UNIT
The Indian Youth Red Cross Unit (IYRCU) is a youth focused organization affiliated with Red Cross society of India. It aims to harness the energy, enthusiasm, and idealism of young people for humanitarian activities and community service.
Since 2008-09 a Red Cross Unit has been fostered in our college to cater the needs of self help and service to others, service to humanity among young students.
“The Youth Red Cross” is a Constituent of the Indian Red Cross Society (Karnataka): A group movement organized at the initial stages for students between 18 to 25 years of age. By default all the students are the volunteers of the IYRCU.
Overall, the college IYRCU plays a crucial role in nurturing a sense of responsibility, compassion and social awareness among youths, preparing them to be active and responsible citizens committed to humanitarian values.

The main purpose of IYCRU
- Informing youth members of the Red Cross and encourage them to contribute.
- Awareness on health and hygiene of their self and others.
- Understanding and acceptance of civic responsibilities and acting accordingly with humanitarian concern, to fulfill the same.
- To enable the growth and development among youths the spirit of service and sense of duty with dedication and devotion in the minds of youth.
- Organizing of Geneva Convention day on every 12th of August
- Organizing of Blood Donation camps
- Organizing of Awareness Programmes on HIV AIDS, Hygiene & Cleanliness.
Objects of IYCRU
- To encourage the students to extend their humanitarian services to the society.
- To develop leadership quality among the students.
- To encourage the students to extend their selfless services to the society.
- To aware on the care of their own health and that of others.
- To promote voluntary blood donation among the youth.
- To understand and inculcate responsibilities and duties towards nation building.
- To offer First Aid Training to all the YRC volunteers.
- To foster better friendly relationship without any racial discrimination.
